Julia & Shaheed ~ Harley Marine wedding

When Julia and Shaheed told me they planned to get married at their friend’s marina, I wasn’t sure what to expect. They said they needed help tying everything together at the industrial space, so I connected them with my friend and stellar wedding coordinator, Michelle Engvall, who transformed a stark ship yard into an elegant wedding venue. The details were stunning, and Seattle’s skyline dazzled guests. I also connected them with my long-time friend and fabulous officiant MaryLee Lykes, who conducted such a heartfelt ceremony that the bridesmaids could barely stay standing through their tears. Their fashionable guests mingled against a backdrop of cranes and heavy machinery, making for endlessly interesting photo ops. They had an ice cream bar for dessert, and Bobby Medina and the Red Hot Band got everyone on the dance floor- even grandma! The day was full of laughter and love, and so many incredible details to share ~

Katrina & Dino ~ DeLille Cellars wedding

Katrina and Dino celebrated their wedding on a beautiful July day at my favorite local winery, DeLille Cellars. Their wedding was exceptionally romantic, off-set by their great sense of humor. I can say without hesitation that Dino is the most spontaneous groom I’ve photographed- he jumped a fence to chase sheep around, even in his khaki linen suit! Their friends and family enjoyed every moment of the day, and during cocktail hour Dino scanned his crowd of friends with a grin and said “this is the best day of my life. Incredible…”

Julia & Shaheed ~ long-distance love

Julia and Shaheed took long-distance dating to it’s greatest length- they went international. They were introduced by a mutual friend in New York City in 2005, and were immediately infatuated with each other. They dated for an entire 2 weeks before Shaheed moved to Mexico to go back to architecture school. They decided to give the international long-distance relationship a try, and extra calling charges and different time-zones couldn’t keep these two apart They spent their savings on airline tickets to be with one another, and three years later Shaheed moved to Seattle to be with Julia. One year later they were engaged, and they are getting married this weekend- one week after their 5 year anniversary.

On a blustery spring day we went to Volunteer Park, where Shaheed proposed last summer, for an engagement session that ended in a snow of cherry blossoms.

This wee one was born to be an athlete, as she’s already strong enough to roll over, and she has her own set of shiny golf clubs. She also has a promising career as a Baby Gap model…

Tina & Yury ~ love in a time of kendo

Tina was born in Taipei, Taiwan. Yury was born in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. They met while learning kendo at Highline Kendo Dojo, and their love blossomed from there. While they are both disciplined, hard-working, and competitive, they are balanced by their big hearts and gentle humility.

Nicki & Donny ~ sneak peek: Destination Seattle

Ah- I’m thrilled with Nicki and Donny’s destination wedding from last Saturday. While we didn’t have to go far, these lovebirds and all their guests traveled from all over the world for their week-long wedding celebration. Melissa & Abdul ~ Pike Place Market engagement session

This stunning, stylish couple is getting married Saturday, so we ran outside to play in the sun last Friday while we had the chance. Melissa and Abdul have the most beautiful energy, and it’s obvious they appreciate each other deeply. They come from completely different backgrounds (Abdul was born in Saudi Arabia and Melissa in St. Louis, MO) but compliment each other in so many ways- they love traveling, reading, making art, delicious food (I have a feeling we’ll be joining them at Cactus this summer), and world music. Spending time with them was dreamy, and we can’t wait to photograph them this sunny Saturday.

Jessica & Dave ~ Seward Park engagement session

It’s official- I’m in love with these lovebirds. Jessica and Dave pretended to be nervous at first, but we ran all around one of my favorite Seattle parks and got a fantastic range of pictures. They were up for anything, and the dramatic light and sky made for some fabulous pictures. I can’t wait to play with you guys on your wedding day ~
